Jurassic Park Fan Art Is Surprisingly Adorable

By David Wharton | 8 years ago

If ever there was a film that lent itself to the concept of a 3D IMAX release, it’s Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. Thankfully we aren’t the only ones who think so, because the dinosaur blockbuster is getting just that this April, meaning you’ll get the chance to see that shady lawyer chomped off his porta-potty seat in ginormous, 3D splendor. But a big-screen re-release isn’t the only way we can all fondly remember that time John Hammond’s theme park dreams went terribly, terribly wrong. For instance, why not make it into a children’s book?

That seems to be the thinking behind this frankly adorable take on Jurassic Park by artist Pakoto Martinez. He describes Jurassic Park as his favorite movie, and that love is clearly on display in these illustrations. The blend of style and subject matter may seem a little odd, but that’s kind of why I love them. There’s just something charming about this style of art applied to a movie where Newman from Seinfeld gets eviscerated by a dinosaur.

You can check out more of Pakoto’s art over at his blog. My only regret is that he doesn’t have one of Alan Grant beaming while he listens to the triceratops breathe.
