Jurassic Park 4 Still Happening

Spielberg’s been a pretty busy fellow lately.  The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse both hit theaters this month, there was all that finagling over the additional Transformers films he’ll executive produce, and he’s currently shooting Daniel Day Lewis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a film about Abraham Lincoln.  In an interview given to ShockTillYouDrop.com while promoting Tin Tin, Spielberg chatted a bit about another project he’s been working on: Jurassic Park 4.

It’s been over a decade since Jurassic Park 3 was released but Spielberg has apparently had its follow up on his mind for a while.  At Comic Con earlier this year, Spielberg told convention goers that he had a story and a writer doing a treatment.  In the interview at ShockTillYouDrop, the iconic director confirmed that the plan is still to get a new Jurassic Park film out in the next two or three years.  When asked specifically how he planned to approach the new film (reboot or sequel?), Spielberg was characteristically coy: “It’s just another boring secret.”

You could make an argument that it might not be a good thing to get another Jurassic Park film – that the trilogy played itself out, that it’s been so long since the first three films as to render a sequel irrelevant.  You could point to the most recent Indiana Jones debacle as proof that long-dead trilogies should stay that way.  I would beg to differ, though.  As a user comment over at ShockTillYouDrop reminds us, “Even a bad movie about dinosaurs eating people is a MOVIE ABOUT DINOSAURS EATING PEOPLE.”
