IntelligenceWe all love Josh Holloway! It’s been more than three years since we’ve seen the charismatic actor on the small screen, where he played the badass with a heart of gold, James “Sawyer” Ford on ABC’s Lost. Although he had a small but memorable role in Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, it’s good to see the 44-year-old actor in a leading role again with the TV crime series Intelligence on CBS.

As reported on EW, Intelligence will have its series premiere on Tuesday, January 7, following a new episode of the widely popular TV series NCIS. Following its premiere, Intelligence will air during its regular timeslot, on Monday nights at 10/9c. Originally, the series was set to premiere on Monday, February 13, but CBS moved up its airdate to give it a more promising timeslot, with NCIS as a lead-in.

Intelligence stars Josh Holloway as Gabriel, a high-tech intelligence operative who has an enhanced with a super-computer microchip implanted into his brain. The chip essentially turns him into a human computer, and he’s also the first human ever to be connected directly into the global information grid. Read the official plot synopsis below:

INTELLIGENCE is a dramatic thriller starring Josh Holloway as a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With this implant, Gabriel (Holloway) is the first human ever to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data. He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies. Leading the elite government cyber-security agency created to support him is Director Lillian Strand (Marg Helgenberger), a straightforward and efficient boss who oversees the unit’s missions. Strand assigns Riley Neal (Meghan Ory), a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats, as well as from his appetite for reckless, unpredictable behavior and disregard for protocol.

The premise sounds interesting enough, and with Josh Holloway at its center, Intelligence has a good chance of finding an audience. Intelligence looks like it’s a good mix between The Six Million Dollar Man and Mission: Impossible, as a high-tech superspy TV series.

Intelligence is from executive producers Michael Seitzman (The Sparrow), David Seme (American Horror Story), Tripp Vinson (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters), and Barry Schindel (Castle). The series is based on the novel Phoenix Island from author John Dixon. Intelligence also features James Martinez, John Billingsley, Michael Rady, and PJ Byrne.

CBS released a behind-the-scenes featurette so new viewers can get a better idea of what Intelligence will be like when it airs this January. While it seems like typical CBS procedural fare, the addition of Josh Holloway will elevate the series to something more. Holloway will be a good draw for Lost fans, and people who like staring at Josh Holloway’s charming good looks.

Intelligence will make its series premiere on January 7, 2014 on CBS.
