Jean-Claude Van Damme Wants To Spin Kick The Avengers 2

By Brent McKnight | Updated

Joss Whedon’s adaptation of Marvel’s The Avengers was a pretty damn good time. Part of the ever-expanding Marvel movie universe, the film raked in absurd amounts of cash across the world, so a sequel was inevitable. Hell, it was a foregone conclusion we’d see more big-screen Avengers before the movie even opened. One thing the movie was missing, however, was a Belgian dude doing the splits and spin-kicking bad guys. It’s a possibility, though slim and unlikely, that The Avengers 2 could rectify this situation, that is, if Jean-Claude Van Damme has anything to do with it.

You can bet that there is a line around the block of actors who want to join Whedon and crew for their second jaunt, and the Bloodsport star took to his Facebook page to throw his hat into the ring.

He writes:

I read that Chris Hemsworth (star of Thor and brother of Liam Hemsworth, The Expendables 2) would like me to costar in The Avengers movie!

Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again. By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel’s superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage – the Man of Bronze!

There isn’t much known about The Avengers 2, except that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are going to reassemble to kick ass. From the direction Marvel’s movies seem to be going, it appears likely that much of this could go down in space. While that doesn’t bode well for the Doc Savage supposition—he’s much more of a terrestrial, Indiana Jones-style adventurer—the Silver Surfer could easily fit into this scheme. And it’s been a few years since The Rise of the Silver Surfer, though many of us would still like that particular bad taste rinsed out of our collective mouths. [A Silver Surfer appearance in Avengers 2 is unlikely if not impossible; Fox still owns the rights to him as well as the Fantastic Four. – Ed.]

What do you think, would you like to see Van Damme dip his toes into Lake Marvel, or would you rather see him stick to what he knows best, like Universal Soldier movies?
