Two movies into what is going to ultimately be a four-movie franchise, The Hunger Games has always managed to make good use of nontraditional marketing tactics. They’ve incorporated the usual strategies, like trailers, posters, photos, and TV spots, but they’ve also employed viral websites, propaganda style posters, and other techniques to garner your attention. And the next chapter, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 is no exception to this trend.

Lionsgate announced that it is now teaming up with Google to unveil a series of YouTube videos that bring the fictional dystopian world of Panem from the movies, and Suzanne Collins’ wildly popular books, to life. Called “District Voices,” this is a string of five new videos, one dropping each day this week, that will look into the industry of a specific district—there are 12 in the story, though there is a District 13 that shows up after a while, but everyone thinks it was destroyed in a war years ago, so we’re not counting that one right now.

A different YouTube content creator is responsible for each video, and the first one, which just dropped, is by Rob Czar and Corinne Leigh. Each new video ties into the YouTube channel’s topic of choice, so, considering that these are the folks behind the clothes and fashion-based Threadbanger station, it makes sense that District 8’s main industry is the production of textiles and fabrics.

Here is the list of the various videos, topics, and districts that are scheduled to appear throughout the week, as you can see, there is quite a variety of subjects:

Tuesday, October 21 – District 2: Shane Fazen, of the ‘fightTIPS’ YouTube channel, showcases the training and techniques required to be a Peacekeeper in Panem.

Wednesday, October 22 – District 5: Derek Muller, known for the mind-blowing experiments and scientific discussions on his YouTube channel ‘Veritasium,’ demonstrates new ways in which the Capitol may generate its electricity in the future.

Thursday, October 23 – District 9: Jimmy Wong & Ashley Adams, best known for their ‘Feast of Fiction’ YouTube channel, demonstrate baking techniques from Panem’s Grain District.

Friday, October 24 – District 6: iJustine’s Justine Ezarik , gives a glimpse at the driving force that proudly supports the transportation needs of Panem’s vaunted Peacekeepers.

Here is the announcement video for the series as a whole:

The new videos will appear on The Hunger Games YouTube page each day at 4pm Eastern Time/1pm Pacific. As for the movie itself, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 opens everywhere on November 21, while Part 2 opens a year later on November 20, 2015.
