mockingjayWith about nine months until its release, there’s already plenty of anticipation for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part One. The first part of the final movie in the film series will answer questions that were left unanswered in Catching Fire. Amid all the news surrounding the tragic and untimely death of one of its stars, Philip Seymour Hoffman, now comes some more cheerful news: the trailer for the next Hunger Games film may be released sooner than expected.

As reported on Hypable, the new trailer will supposedly drop sometime in April. The trailer for Catching Fire was released during the MTV Movie Awards back in April 2013, so it would make sense for Lionsgate to do the same thing for Mockingjay – Part One. This year, the MTV Movie Awards is on April 13, so mark your calendars to get a first look at the new Hunger Games movie. Take a trip down memory lane and check out the Catching Fire trailer that premiered on MTV below:

It was previously speculated that the Mockingjay trailer might have been attached to Lionsgate’s other would-be series starter Divergent, which hits theaters on March 21. The studio is using Catching Fire‘s home video release to promote Divergent, with a special sneak peek attached to the release as a bonus feature.

A few weeks ago, Lionsgate kicked off the marketing campaign for Mockingjay with the release of the movie’s first teaser poster. It featured the Mockingjay symbol in flames, against a black backdrop. The poster was simple, yet effective, and you can check it out below.

It was recently revealed that Lionsgate executives are considering using a digital recreation of Philip Seymour Hoffman to finish the last moments of his character, head gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part Two. Last week, Mr. Hoffman passed away as a result of a drug overdose, while he still had about a week left of shooting on the second part of the final Hunger Games movie. Lionsgate executives assured fans of the film series that the release dates for the last two movies will not be pushed back and will open in theaters on time.

Mockingjay takes place after Katniss has been disqualified from the 75th Hunger Games, or Third Quarter Quell, when she agrees to be the face of the revolution against the Capitol and President Snow. Peeta Mellark continues to be a victim of President Snow’s brainwashing after being captured during the deadly competition, while Gale Hawthorne rises to a leadership role with the rebellion.

The third installment in The Hunger Games film series also features Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Jeffrey Wright, Jena Malone, Stef Dawson, Natalie Dormer, Evan Ross, Meta Golding, Lily Rabe, Patina Miller, and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part One hits theaters everywhere on November 21, 2014, in IMAX.
