Every day that passes means we’re all a little bit closer to next year’s release of J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII, and that in turn means we’re even closer to the production start date for the long-gestating next entry in the Star Wars saga. And if we can extrapolate once more, it means we’re that much closer to finding something out about the movie that isn’t just a rumor, specifically whether or not Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher are seriously going to appear in the trilogy or not. For now, though, we’re playing Giant Freakin’ Detective and connecting some fairly obvious clues.
Fortunately, Entertainment Weekly did some of the dirty work for us, which is good since my private detective license didn’t arrive in the mail yet. They’ve rounded up examples placing Ford, Hamill, and Fisher all in the city of London, the home of Pinewood Studios, where much of Episode VII‘s production will take place. Sure, it’s possible that three of the most recognizable actors on the face of the planet can all be in the same city as the film that they’re supposedly starring in without it meaning anything, as coincidences are as common as midi-chlorians. But I don’t think we’d be hearing about their mini-vacations in such a mysterious manner.
First up, we’ve got actor Peter Serafinowicz, who took to Twitter this past weekend to share with his followers that he was hanging out with Hamill in London. Beyond being an insanely funny guy, Serafinowicz was the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, so there’s a Star Wars link here even beyond Abrams’ film. But it’s the cryptic message in the post that makes us think Hamill is a lock for Episode VII.

“I wonder why he’s here.” You know damned well why he’s there, Serafinowicz! Fisher was a little more blatant with her teaser tweet, but we’re at that point where being clear is a lot more interesting than hinting at something. The actress who once made men’s toes curl up into buns uses her dog as her link to the English capital city.
So my do dog Gary has been spotted in London, but apparently without me. Who has he been seeing? Let me know if you have any clues.

And then there’s this image of Harrison Ford, which he took for a recent Reddit AMA to promote Years of Living Dangerously, a climate change documentary series that he worked on with people like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Don Cheadle. And while you can see Ford’s name big and bold on the chair he’s standing behind, notice the chair to his left.
The other chair quite clearly has a name printed on it that starts with the letters “CA.” A quick look at Ford’s other recent projects rules out any other major actors who may have been sitting in that chair, though I guess it could stand for “CAMERA OPERATOR” or something. Maybe J.J. Abrams changed his name to Cal Calhoun to throw people off. I don’t know.
But even though we’re pretty skeptical folks here at GFR, this all seems too much to be just a ruse or an exercise in coincidences. We know that casting and production news is supposedly imminent, so it may not be too much longer before we find out concrete facts about Star Wars: Episode VII. Of course, I guess it also may not be much longer until somebody invents a machine that calls bullshit on internet websites when they’re mistaken about casting news. Whichever comes first…
