Theo James DivergentIf Summit Entertainment has anything to say about it, Neil Burger’s (Limitless) upcoming sci-fi film Divergent will be the next Hunger Games. The young adult novel by Veronica Roth certainly has all of the elements in place that are hot right now: a dystopian future, a tough, strong-willed female protagonist, a surprising amount of brutal violence, and a hunky leading man. Roth’s book is a huge seller, so a favorable box office take seems probable. But it never hurts to stack the deck in your favor, and today brings us the first look at a new photo of Theo James, who plays Tobias “Four” Eaton in the film.

This image from EW doesn’t actually reveal anything new about the movie, except that Four is going to be so totally dreamy. He’s the primary love interest for Shailene Woodley’s character Beatrice “Tris” Prior. Set in the near future, society has been divided into five categories based on personality types. There are Amity, or peaceful; Abnegation, or selfless; Candor, the honest; Erudite, the smart kids; and the brave, or Dauntlesss faction. Though there isn’t much context, according to James, this photo comes from early on in the film, when Four shows the latest batch of recruits around their new digs at Dauntless HQ.

When sixteen year old Tris takes the test to determine what faction she belongs to, it is revealed that she has equal aptitude for three—Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless—and she is thus classified as Divergent. This designation makes her dangerous, though she is unsure why, and no one wants to explain it to her. After she opts to join Dauntless, and starts dating Four, who is her instructor, she discovers what it truly means to be Divergent.

Though the film is currently filming in Chicago, Divergent is already slated for release on March 21, 2014.
