Thor: The Dark WorldSPOILERS FOR THOR: THE DARK WORLD BELOW

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to get some attention next week when Thor: The Dark World hits theaters. 2014 will see two more films in Phase Two with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. The Thor sequel has been screening for press over the last few weeks and has already opened in the United Kingdom. Marvel President Kevin Feige admitted that one of the post-credits sequences (yes, there are two) would involve Guardians of the Galaxy.

As reported on Geek Prime, the first post-credits sequence involves the cosmic team, while the second sets up Thor 3. The first comes mid-way through the credits and might also set up The Avengers 3, and features The Collector (Benicio del Toro). From Geek Prime:

The First Thor 2 After credit scene occurs about halfway through the credits, and sets up Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 3. After the Aether is back in the hands of the Asgardians , Sif and Volstagg bring the item to the intergalactic museum of none other than The Collector, played by Benicio del Toro who will be the main villain in the Guardians of the Galaxy. The reason for this is that the Tesseract is already on Asgard and they should have no two great sources of Power in their possession. When he is alone with the Aether, The Collector utters the phrase, “One down, five to go.”

So it does seem like Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will involve the search for the Infinity Gems and possibly the Infinity Gauntlet. If this is the case, Thanos can’t be too far off. It also seems that if this post-credits sequence leads into Guardians of the Galaxy, will that film also feature one of the Gems? Just food for thought, as we wait to watch Thor: The Dark World in theaters on November 8th.

New Concept ArtMeanwhile, a new banner from Guardians of the Galaxy might tease what’s to come in 2014, but it’s unclear if this piece of promotional material is official. Spotted by a fan in Brazil and found on Coming Soon, the new poster features all five members of the Guardians team. This would be the first time we’re getting a look at the cosmic team of peacekeepers since concept art from the Marvel movie was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last July. Although this banner poster looks (somewhat) official, there’s word that it might be simply fan art.

gaurdians-of-the-galaxy-banner-poster-fan-artAccording to /Film, director James Gunn is unsure if this banner poster is from Marvel Studios, but it seems that he’s certain that it is fan art. While Gamora and Drax The Destroyer look like Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, respectively, the banner poster itself looks too cartoon-like to be official. With the concept art from Comic-Con available, we know what Gamora and Drax’s makeup and costumes will look like. It just doesn’t match what we’ve seen so far from the movie.

Gun describes the story as “a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants (IE An Infinity Gem).” The movie Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Benicio del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Olivia Lovibond, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters everywhere on August 1, 2014, in 3D.
