LEGO previewed the new set for Guardians on USA Today, proviing a first look at the team’s sentient vessel called “Ship,” and a few mini-figures of Star-Lord, Gamora, and Ronan the Accuser. The set is called “The Milano Spaceship Rescue” set, which might hint to the film’s climax. The 665-piece unit retails for about $75 and will be released later this year.

When Warner Bros makes the LEGO Movie sequel, the company should include Marvel characters so fans can have the closest thing they’re likely to get to a Marvel vs. DC crossover, only in LEGO form. LEGO is expected to release other sets for the cosmic comic book movie, so it’s only a matter of time before we see figures for the likes of Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Nebula, and The Collector.

Elsewhere at the Fair, Hasbro previewed their own Guardians toys. Latino Review’s Da7e Gonzales managed to take a few images of the new offerings, including a Rocket Raccoon mask, Star-Lord with a mysterious blue orb, and a twin pack featuring the Guardians’ leader and the film’s main villain, Ronan the Accuser. Da7e also took a snapshot of Beta Ray Bill, who will most likely never have his own movie and never be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, unless the comic book movie studio makes a Planet Hulk movie.

Meredith Woerner from io9.com also took a few snap shots of the character designs of Star-Lord, who looks very rugged, and Gamora, who appears to have a few badass scars on her face. The action figures also have detachable heads, so kids can have the members of the team with different faces. The New York Toy Fair lasts until February 19th, so toy manufacturers will likely have more to offer.

The film follows Peter Quill, a half-human, half-alien former astronaut who finds himself in the middle of a galaxy-wide manhunt after he steals a mysterious orb, which is believed to be the Mind Gem. In order to escape, he is forced into an uneasy alliance with a group of cosmic misfits and outlaws. When he learns of the orb’s true power, he must rally his new team to save the galaxy from a mysterious new threat, the Kree Empire and Ronan the Accuser.

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Olivia Lovibond, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close, and opens in theaters everywhere on August 1.
