Will The Guardians Of The Galaxy Face Off Against The Controller?

As recent casting news emerges about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy feature film, speculation has turned to who the villain will be in the superhero team-up movie. There have been many clues pointing to Thanos, who was teased after the credits of The Avengers, but according to some inside sources, Marvel is looking to spring Thanos in The Avengers 2 instead.
Latino Review says their sources point to The Controller as the Guardians of the Galaxy’s main foe. The Controller is the mind-controlling Marvel supervillain. He has frequently run up against Iron Man, Justin Hammer, War Machine, and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Jasper Sitwell and Maria Hill, so it would be interesting to see how The Controller would be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Controller was born Basil Sandhurst, an electro-mechanical and chemical research scientist who was obsessed with controlling the world around him. He was prone to violent fits of rage before a lab explosion crippled him. His brother Vincent fitted him with a super-strong exoskeleton, powered by cerebral energy.
Now that he has the power to control people’s minds, Basil, now called the Controller, vowed to enslave New York City. But after a bout with War Machine, the Controller was deemed useless until Thanos arrived, upgraded his power suit, and promised him the complete control of the Earth. The Controller also has the ability to wield control discs and mentally drain the energy of his controlled subjects.
Latino Review also speculates that The Controller would lead into Thanos in The Avengers 2, because Guardians of the Galaxy is the last standalone Marvel movie before the Avengers sequel. With Guardians of the Galaxy possibly adding the Nova Corps and now the Controller, it seems like the cosmic team-up movie is just getting stranger and stranger.
Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters everywhere on August 1, 2014, in 3D.
