Guardians Of The Galaxy Drops A New Clip And Overwhelmingly Positive Early Buzz
This article is more than 2 years old
Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) has a plan. Okay, he has part of a plan. Like 12-percent of a plan, which is, by definition, still technically part of a plan. That’s what you’ll get from the latest Guardians of the Galaxy clip that Marvel has unveiled to the general public. And for a select few, the comic book giant screened their new space adventure, and if the early buzz is any indication, it’s going to be just as awesome as we all hoped.
While so much of what we’ve already seen from Guardians revolves around the action in the film, this clip is just the key characters sitting around, bickering and arguing. As much as I’ve enjoyed just about everything Marvel has thrown at us, and has been a substantial amount, this may be my favorite. Watching Star-Lord, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) go back and forth highlights the sarcastic sense of humor of the film.
You also get to see snippets of each character’s personality on display as they try to figure out how to stop the main villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). Star-Lord may be irreverent and a grown-ass man-child, but he’s also a good guy at heart, he may not know exactly how go about saving the galaxy, but he knows he has to do something. Gamora is obviously not someone to be trifled with. Drax is strong and tough, but not the sharpest tool in the shed. Rocket may very well be the breakout star of the summer. And Groot, well, he’s an eight foot tall alien tree who only says “I am Groot,” and eats parts of himself. I want one.
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of our most anticipated movies of the year. A lucky few fancy-pants film critics who live in places like Los Angeles were treated to screenings, and took to the Internet to share their reactions, which are overwhelmingly positive.
Not one of Marvel’s most known titles, this film takes the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new, exciting direction, and that is apparently exactly what it does.

People are even calling this the best Marvel movie yet.
Sorry, Winter Soldier, I'm taking the "best Marvel movie EVER" crown and handing it to Guardians of the Galaxy.

And, most importantly, there are dick jokes, lots of dick jokes.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the first Marvel movie to have a great third act. It's full of personality, laughs, and dick jokes.

You can check out even more reactions over at Slashfilm, who collected a ton of tweets and responses from people who saw the film, but most of them fall into the category of weeeeee. Most of us will have to wait until August 1 to see Guardians of the Galaxy, but it’s hard not to get even more excited than we already were.
