Casting is quickly starting to come together for the Godzilla reboot. A few weeks ago, Legendary Pictures was in talks with actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson to star in the upcoming monster movie. Now it looks like the movie studio is also considering bringing Martha Marcy May Marlene star Elisabeth Olsen and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston into the cast as well.

According to Variety, the reboot of the popular Japanese film series is currently awaiting a script polish from screenwriter Frank Darabont. The ex-showrunner of AMC’s The Walking Dead wants to make this new iteration of the iconic monster a “terrifying force of nature” as he and director Gareth Edwards iron out a more realistic approach to the source material.

Elisabeth Olsen is an indie darling who was featured in How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor’s sophomore effort, Liberal Arts, and in Kill Your Darlings, featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Foster, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. She will also appear in Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy, which will be released later this year. If she takes the Godzilla job, this would be her first tentpole summer blockbuster movie.

Bryan Cranston plays the devious Walter White on AMC’s Breaking Bad, which garnered him four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He also appeared in Len Wiseman’s remake of Total Recall and the Academy Award-nominated Argo in 2012.

A few weeks ago, after Warner Bros. executives took a look at what Gareth Edwards was developing with the Godzilla reboot, they seemed very pleased and pushed its production forward to a March 2013 start date. Godzilla will be in position to be one of the biggest movies of summer 2014, despite the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot opening opposite the giant monster movie.

Godzilla will hit theaters everywhere on May 16, 2014, in 3D.
