Ghostbusters Cast Reunites For This Magazine Cover And Interview

As you’re probably well aware, this year marks the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, one of our all time favorite movies. I’m sure you all went and saw it a few times when it was released in theaters a few months back, right? Or maybe you waited and picked up a copy of the newly released Blu-ray. But that’s not all there is in store to mark this momentous occasion, as the cast and crew recently got together for a photo shoot and interview.
Above, you can see the Entertainment Weekly cover featuring the surviving members of the core group, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver. Harold Ramis, who played Egon, as you know, passed away earlier this year.
While these four grace the front of the magazine, they weren’t the only ones who showed up. Annie Potts and director Ivan Reitman were also on hand for the festivities, and they both appear in this video clip and interview with ABC’s Today. Who knew Al Roker was such a massive Ghostbusters fans? I guess maybe if you watch the show you know, but I don’t, so I have no idea.

As much fun as it is to see the image of original cast back together, this video is even better, especially because Murray just takes it over, which is something that probably happens almost everywhere he goes. They share a few quick behind the scenes stories and anecdotes, like Murray’s recollections about Slimer’s slime and how it was made out of corn syrup, adhesive, and poison, or how they rolled all around New York City in Ecto-1, running red lights and driving the wrong way up one-way streets.
There’s been so much talk of more Ghostbusters movies lately that it isn’t surprising that the subject comes up. When Murray is put on the spot, he pumps the brakes on that quickly, as he usually does, and fast. He turns everyone’s attention to Paul Feig’s female-fronted reboot, and gets in a little dig at Hudson, who has been very publicly critical of the idea of female Ghostbusters.
More than anything, however, this clip just makes you want to throw Ghostbusters into the movie machine and sit back with your favorite paranormal investigators for a few hours.
