So How Well Do Those Back To The Future Part II Hoverboard Prop Replicas Hold Up?

Great Scott! According to Back to the Future Part II, it will only be three more years until hoverboards are a reality. But for those who don’t want to wait that long, Mattel is currently selling non-working hoverboard replicas that look and feel exactly like the ones Marty McFly used in Back to the Future Part II. The hoverboard replica is an exact 1:1 recreation of the iconic prop used in the movie. Although this is a non-working prop, it comes with authentic “whooshing” sounds so it seems like it is. The Mattel website claims that the hoverboard can “gently glide” across most surfaces, but considering that most flat objects can glide across most surfaces, it’s a pretty specious claim.
For only $120, this hoverboard prop can be yours. It comes in a really snazzy box, but despite the pink and girly art, the packing box is arguably just as cool as the hoverboard prop itself. It’s funny that the box has to keep reminding us that the hoverboard doesn’t really hover.
