If you grew up a die-hard fan of the Back to the Future movies, there’s a good chance at some point you tried to build your very own Lego DeLorean. Also possibly your very own Lego Aliens power loader, your very own Lego Tron light cycle, your very own Lego Battlestar Galactica Viper, and so on. Now society has finally caught up with our fervent childhood imaginations, and soon you will be able to purchase your very own official, licensed Back to the Future Lego sets.

DeLorean

The set will let you build the various different incarnations of Doc Brown’s DeLorean seen over the course of the three films, so you should be set whether you prefer the original version, the Old West version, or the one that has a giant Lego laser cannon mounted on the roof because you had parts left over that could make a giant Lego laser cannon. You’ll also get parts for different versions of Doc Brown and Marty.

What’s really cool is that the BTTF Lego set was originally designed by fans, who submitted their design to Lego’s Cuusoo site, which takes ideas for new Lego sets, then allows people to vote on them. If your idea gets 10,000 supporters, Lego will consider making an official set out of your design, and that’s what happened with the very cool BTTF creation above.

The Back to the Future Lego set will release sometime next year.
