Back To The Future Gets An Instagram And An Amazing Acoustic Theme

back to the future instagramYou know what was great about the teenagers in the 1980s? They didn’t have a billion methods of engaging socially with the world at large. As such, teen movies from the 1980s are nowhere near as ironically self-aware and communication is done by people using their mouths and ears. (I guess people wrote letters, too.) Well, the occasionally aggravating geniuses over at BuzzFeed decided to add some new-millennium flair to one of the most classic films of all time — of all time! — by giving Back to the Future‘s Marty McFly an Instagram account. That’s worth about 1.21 gag-awatts, right? Luckily, someone performed an incredible acoustic guitar version of the theme that balances things out.

While I’m morally against the downgrading of such a film in this way, I’ll admit that some of the images are pretty funny. The picture seen above is right on with its people tags and hashtags. Except for misspelling “to” in “#tohot4teacher,” that is. But really, I could use some more humor, and possibly more filters besides just this black-and-white one, just to keep things feeling fresh. Ugh, I hate that I’m somehow trying to give these guys tips on how to create BTTF Instagram photos.

You can find a few more below, for your perusal. I like the idea of cropping the image to make it look like Marty is taking a selfie, but I cannot possibly forgive these people for putting “YOLO” in the mouth of Doc Brown. If anyone on Earth knows that someone can technically live a bunch of times through time travel, it’s Doc. I do like the time stamps in the upper corners though, as they turn to question marks once Marty is in the past. It’s a nice touch. Check some more out below and stay tuned for the awesome BTTF acoustic cover.

And now comes the truly amazing part. Music! And not the “to hot for teacher” variety. Jam to this and stay tuned for a reunion between Doc and Marty on The Michael J. Fox Show at some point in the future. Great Scot, it won’t be the same!
