Time travel can be a jumbled, confusing experience. You bounce back and forth from the present to the future to the past, changing seemingly trivial things that ripple forward through the years, making drastic alterations to the landscape. Multiply that by three movies, and you amplify those problems exponentially. Thus is the dilemma for fans of Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future trilogy.

Fortunately for you, there’s this new infographic that will help you keep track of all of the adventures of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) as they jump around in time between the years 1885 and 2015.

Divided into eight distinct timelines, this image breaks all of the jaunts in the DeLorean down in a variety of ways. Of course there is a record of the jumps back in time, and those treks into the unknown of the future. But it’s also organized by character, combination of characters, film, and whether or not the journey caused any residual changes in the fabric of the space-time continuum. I like that they even included Einstein the dog’s inaugural minute-long trip into the future. It’s nice that they gave the dog his due.

Ever since seeing Back to the Future Part 2, my life’s goal has been to take a sports almanac back in time so I can place any number of large bets. So I have the plan, and I can get my hands on a list of significant sports victories with relative ease. Now all I need is to find a way to travel back in time.
