Have you always wanted to help a badass science fiction action film get off the ground? Well, here’s your chance. Director Samuel Jorgensen and company need help raising funds, via Kickstarter, to put the finishing touches on their short, Singularity. Check out the teaser trailer right now, it looks pretty damn awesome.

This looks like something I’ll enjoy immensely. Jorgensen has a background in visual effects, having recently worked on films like Men in Black 3, Riddick, and The Last Stand.

According to their Kickstarter page, the goal of Singularity is to make “a kick-ass sci-fi action film in the vein of The Terminator and Aliens.” That’s not a bad goal, and what they have so far looks great, with a combination of old school filming techniques with new school digital effects.

Set in the not-too-distant future, Singularity tells the story of a civil war between humans and intelligent robots. When the president of the United States is kidnapped by the nefarious androids, a team of Delta Force soldiers must go in to rescue him. During their mission they are ambushed, and, as you probably imagined, some fast-paced action ensues as the soldiers battle robots.

Donating to Singularity will help the production process film, hire camera rigs and special effects equipment, and even feed the cast and crew on set. Any additional funds will go to music, sound mixing, and that sort of thing.

And giving money to Singularity isn’t just throwing cash down a hole with nothing to show for it. Depending on how much you give, you’ll get access to an exclusive production blog, t-shirts, digital downloads, props from the production, or even a visit to the set.

All in all, Singularity looks like a worthy case to throw a little support behind. Take a look at their pitch video and let them plead their case directly to you and your wallet.
