Tomorrowland from Disney, director Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol), and writer Damon Lindelof (Lost), has been a mystery to be unraveled since day one. The closer we get to the release date, however, the more we’re learning, and today brings a magical, adventure filled new trailer. This is a U.K. version, though there is supposedly also going to be a U.S. one as well. Check it out below.

The story, as we understand it, follows a young woman named Casey (Britt Robertson). She’s a scientifically gifted kid who teams up with Frank (George Clooney), a former boy genius to embark on a dangerous journey to a mysterious place called Tomorrowland that exists out of space and time. This is where the best and brightest come together to change the world, but there’s something more going on, something bad happened, and it is up to Casey to fix the future.

TomorrowlandThere’s obviously even more going on here than we see in this trailer. You get an almost dystopian vibe with riots in the streets…

Tomorrowland…Frank’s house is protected by a hologramatic guard dog…

Tomorrowland…you catch glimpses of Casey’s home life, which doesn’t appear to be all that great as she has problems with her father…

Tomorrowland…dark, nefarious forces are working against whatever it is that Frank and Casey are trying to do, and you get a serious heroic quest/chosen one/press of destiny kind of feel…

Tomorrowland…and of course there is a rocket-powered bathtub, which is both awesome and seems like it would be terrifying…

Tomorrowland…and, like they had us specifically in mind, there are giant fighting robots, which is always a good time.

TomorrowlandOverall, this trailer gives you the distinct impression that Tomorrowland is a fantastic, borderline magical adventure, and that is right up Bird’s alley, with titles like The Iron Giant and The Incredibles under his belt.

Tomorrowland opens everywhere May 22, and also stars Hugh Laurie, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Tim McGraw, Pierce Gagnon, Keegan-Michael Key, and many more.
