After suffering through the godawful Sylvester Stallone/Rob Schneider Judge Dredd flick back in the ’90s, I honestly didn’t think it was possible for me to become excited about a Dredd movie ever again. But damned if the upcoming Dredd, starring Karl Urban as the futuristic law enforcer, doesn’t actually look pretty good. He can certainly pull off the look, and with a screenplay by Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later) this Dredd flick might just burn away the memory of the Judge’s last cinematic outing. We’ll know more when the full trailer hits the interwebs tomorrow, but in the mean time you can check out a 10-second teaser below.

There’s not a whole lot we can determine based on the quick-cut footage. Lots of guns shooting, some slow-motion mayhem, and Urban delivering the requisite pithy one-liner. It hasn’t lowered my anticipation for the flick, but it hasn’t really raised it either. Check back with GFR tomorrow to see the full trailer and get a better feel for what to expect from Dredd.

For those unfamiliar, Dredd is based on a long-running British comic character from the science fiction anthology magazine 2000 AD. In the new film Urban plays Dredd, a tough-as-nails law enforcer authorized to serve as judge, jury, and executioner while defending a futuristic metropolis. He’s teamed up with a new recruit (Olivia Thirlby) to try and take down a gang dealing a reality-altering drug called SLO-MO. Dredd opens in theaters on September 21st.
