It’s no secret that we here at GFR are of the opinion that most problems in life can be solved through the addition of More Shatner. If you’re feeling low on Shatner of late and own an Xbox 360, the folks from the Epix network have just the solution. Beginning tomorrow and running through Sunday, Epix and Xbox (say, that almost rhymes) are teaming up for Shatnerific: A Celebration of Star Trek Fandom.
What all is included in this Shatnerific celebration? Well, it’s timed to help promote the new Epix documentary, William Shatner’s Get a Life! (which we mentioned in our “This Week in Science Fiction” column, which you really ought to be reading each Monday). If you have an Xbox Live subscription, you’ll be able to watch Get a Life! as well as the earlier Epix documentary, The Captains. While The Captains focuses on, well, Trek‘s captains throughout the various series and movies. Get a Life!, on the other hand, turns its lens on the fans.
The event will be featured on the Xbox Live dashboard, and all you’ll have to do is download the Epix 360 app. But wait! There’s more! Epix will also allow you to watch all 11 Star Trek films on your Xbox for free this weekend. If you’ve got a hankering for an ass-numbing Trek marathon, you can start with Star Trek: The Motion Picture and continue all the way through 2009’s Star Trek. Or just, you know, watch the even-numbered ones. Either way it’s a pretty cool deal, especially for free.
If you don’t have an Xbox, you can still check out Get a Life! when it premieres on Epix Saturday night at 8/7c on Epix.
