The Flash Tussles With His Arch-Nemesis: This Week’s TV Picks

Christmas is approaching and the TV lineup is getting increasingly bare, with many shows going into hiatus over the holidays. Thankfully The Flash, one of the breakout hits of 2014, is going out in style. Before handing the floor over to that other jovial guy in a red suit, speedster Barry Allen will be facing off against “The Man in the Yellow Suit.” If you’re a long-time Flash fan, or have even just been paying attention this season, you know that can mean only one thing: Reverse Flash!

The Flash has been teasing the inevitable showdown between Flash and Reverse Flash since the very first episode, where we saw a yellow blur murder young Barry Allen’s mother, and thus land his pops in the slammer. Sadly, the Central City Police Department just wasn’t progressive enough to consider “death by unidentified metahuman” as a valid possibility at the time. As such, Barry’s been trying to prove his father’s innocence for years, and in The Flash‘s midseason finale he’ll finale get to confront the killer face to blurry face. Will Barry survive a run-in with his equal and opposite number? Well yeah, obviously, but I also don’t expect this whole plot thread to be resolved anytime soon. Hell, I’m betting we still won’t definitively know the Reverse Flash’s identity by the end of the episode. But it should be badass either way.

“The Man in the Yellow Suit” premieres tomorrow night at 8/7c on The CW.

Barry faces his nemesis Reverse Flash, who killed his mother, and plots with Wells and Cisco to trap him. Meanwhile, Eddie gives Iris a surprising gift at Christmas and leaves her with a question that could change her life.
