Fan-Made Inspector Spacetime Poster Makes Us (And Dan Harmon) Wish It Was Real

“Six seasons and a movie.” It’s become the rallying cry for fans of NBC’s Community, a brilliant and hilarious show that has never snagged the ratings that it truly deserves (such are the perils of aspiring for programming more intelligent than, say, Two and a Half Men). That idea is most likely wishful thinking, but assuming it’s not the stuff of pipes, what would a Community movie look like? I don’t have any idea. Do you? One artistic Community fan thinks it should look a little something like this.

For non-fans who are scratching their heads right now, the poster references Inspector Spacetime, a Doctor Who stand-in within the Community universe (or should that be multiverse?). Series regulars Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) are obsessed with the show, often dressing up as the Inspector and his assistant to resolve whatever galactic threat they’re pretending is impending. The fictitious show has also taken on a life of its own on the interwebs, with fans stitching together elaborate timelines of the various actors who have played the Inspector over the decades.

The Inspector Spacetime poster is the work of deviantArtist tinderbox210, and was actually tweeted by Dan Harmon, the creator and, until-recently, showrunner of Community. If only Inspector Spacetime could go back and kick some sense into NBC

And now, to play us out, a trailer for a web series that has absolutely nothing to do with Inspector Spacetime, we swear.
