Falling Skies Featurette Teases Season 3

TNT’s Falling Skies has been an occasionally frustrating affair, featuring some memorable moments but so far not really living up to its full potential. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the upcoming third season this summer will see the show finally hit its stride. We’ve still got a long wait to find out, but in the meantime TNT has released a first look at season three courtesy of this featurette. Check it out:
Season two saw Tom Mason (Noah Wylie) come face-to-face with the enemy Overlords who have attacked the Earth and subjugated many of its people. But even after that confrontation, we don’t really know why the alien invaders have come to Earth, and what their ultimate goals are. Tom and the rest of the 2nd Mass. gained a few insights courtesy of some allied Skitters who were also rebelling against the Overlords, and the finale provided a clue that suggests even bigger questions. With the suggestion that the Overlords are at war with yet another alien species, and the mysterious arrival of one of those alien in the season finale, season three has the ingredients for a top-notch new season…assuming the writers capitalize on that potential.
If you didn’t watch season 2, or just want to revisit it before the third season this summer, you’ll be able to pick it up on Blu-ray and DVD on June 4th. There’s no official premiere date for season three, but it’s likely it will be a week or two after the DVD release.
