There have been all kinds of developments recently on AMC’s The Walking Dead. So far, season 5 has delivered a number of brutal events—both physical and emotional—as well as some new developments that will forever change the shape of the series. While we’re still a few weeks away from the end, the network has shared some details about the season finale.

If you’re not current on The Walking Dead, there are spoilers to be found here. You’ve been warned.

Over the years, the group of zombie apocalypse survivors have been a mobile contingent, moving from place to place, but now that they’ve arrived in Alexandria, that’s going to change. Fans of the comics know that this place is still a major factor in the continuing narrative, and it looks to serve the same function in the adaptation.

The season 5 finale is set to air on Sunday, March 29, and will be a 90-minute affair, so there is ample time to explore many story lines, and the brief synopsis teases what we’ll see. Daryl will reportedly get in a pickle while “out on a run,” which isn’t too terribly surprising. Especially in the wake of Beth’s death, he has become even more withdrawn and isolated than usual, and he’s never been the most social of butterflies.

We’ll have to wait and see what this entails. Alexandria seems to have plenty of supplies to go around, so maybe Daryl just needs some alone time. A season finale would be one hell of a place to kill of a beloved major character, and The Walking Dead likes to go out with a bang, so lets hope he makes it to season 6 in one piece. Do you think they have the balls to kill Daryl?

Walking DeadThe other part of the story involves trouble showing up at Alexandria’s front gate. There are a number of ways this could go. Could it be Negan? That could potentially mean the death of another key character. But there could also be other survivors, a swarm of walkers, or a number of other threats. We’ll have to wait and see what this all means too. There are a lot of stories around Alexandria, so I kind of hope they don’t go the Negan route just yet and let the situation there play out a bit. The writers have a lot of source material to play with.

Talking Dead, the weekly wrap up show hosted by Chris Hardwick, will air at afterwards, as usual, though 30 minutes later. According to EW, the show will “bid farewell to fallen characters.” That’s pretty common, but does it mean that they’re going to revisit Beth and Tyreese, both of whom have already kicked the bucket, or should we presume that more people die before season 5 of The Walking Dead wraps up? That’s actually seems like a pretty safe bet, they like to knock people off.

Be sure to tune in on Sunday, March 29 for the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead.
