It's really finally happening.

We still have to wait until November 1st to lay eyes on director Gavin Hood’s adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s beloved sci-fi novel, Ender’s Game, but when has a long wait stopped a studio from hyping one of their films? Following that logic, it makes perfect sense to present the first official poster for the highly anticipated movie.

Courtesy of Yahoo, the image on the poster is so doctored that it looks almost like a cartoon. It shows Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) in his flash suit, fists balled up in grim determination, on the precipice of the zero-gravity battle room where he will engage, against great odds, with his classmates at the school.

Of all of the things to be excited about for Ender’s Game, the scenes of the lashes between cadets are what I’m most excited about. Watching the pint-sized soldiers bounce around in null gravity, propelling themselves off of walls and freezing each other should be the visual event of the fall movie season. Especially when presented in IMAX. I’m getting giddy just thinking about it.

Maybe I didn’t get the memo, but apparently every science fiction movie released in 2013 has to have at least one poster with the image of one character standing with his back towards you. See posters for Oblivion, Star Trek Into Darkness, After Earth, and others for evidence to support this theory.

In the future of Ender’s Game, in order to prepare for an impending war against an alien race, young recruits are sent to a space station that serves as a military academy. Ender is especially young and small, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in brains, skill, and strategy, which allows him to excel in his studies and simulations.

Opening November 1, 2013, Ender’s Game also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, and Aramis Knight.
