New Ender’s Game Image Showcases Battle School’s Mess Hall

The release of Ender’s Game, adapted from Orson Scott Card’s acclaimed novel, is more than nine months away. So fans are understandably keen to see any material from the film at all. Today, we’ve got a look inside Battle School itself, specifically at the School’s mess hall. Here’s Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) and Petra Arkanian (Hailee Steinfeld) eating a meal, with the School’s scoreboard visible in the background.
The good people at EndersAnsible.com provided the image above, and pointed out its various Easter eggs, including additional characters, army logos, and even the food Ender and Petra are eating. It’s pretty in-depth and worth checking out.
The story of Ender’s Game takes place in the future, where mankind is at war with aliens called Formics or “Buggers.” The best and brightest children are recruited to a Battle School in space, where they train to be generals in the human offensive. The character of Ender Wiggin is the smartest of the new recruits, which makes him a prime target to be their leader, but he’s also a target for bullying and abuse by other students who don’t care how powerful his brain is.
Yesterday, Lionsgate released the logos for the Rat, Salamander, Asp, and Dragon Armies. These armies are made up of the students of the battle school. When Ender begins to excel at the school, the Dragon Army recruits him. Producer Roberto Orci has been releasing various aspects of the film on the Ender’s Game official tumblr page since March of last year.
The movie will also feature Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin.
Ender’s Game opens in theaters everywhere on November 1st in IMAX 3D.
