Elysium Pics Showcase The Film’s Future Technology

This week has been a big promotional week for Neill Blomkamp’s sophomore effort, Elysium. It started with the release of the film’s first poster, then its action-packed teaser trailer, and later a few new images from the science fiction film.
Sony really got the ball rolling to get Elysium out in the public eye, and Elysium is definitely one of the must-see movies of the summer season. Now the studio has released two new images that show off Max’s (Matt Damon) fighting skills in his snazzy mechanical exoskeleton. It’s hard to tell who he’s sparring with, but it doesn’t look like it’s Kruger, the bounty hunter tasked with preventing Max from reaching the titular orbiting space station where all the world’s wealthy live.
Next up, we’ve got a picture of Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) using her futuristic Bluetooth earpiece. She’s the one who sics Kruger on Max, determined not to let Max succeed in his mission.
Elysium is set in the year 2154, when the world is separated into two distinct social classes: the wealthy and powerful live a luxurious, disease-free lifestyle on the orbiting space station, while the poor are left to scrounge for food and water in a chaotic society on the overpopulated Earth. Max has recently developed cancer, and his only hope for survival is to take a risky mission to Elysium to find a cure.
Elysium will hit theaters everywhere on August 9th.
