This fall NBC’s Revolution is scheduled to bring some post-apocalyptic action to primetime television. A variety of promos, trailers, and sneak peeks have surfaced, and today brings your first look at Elizabeth Mitchell’s character in the show. An alumnus of Lost, Revolution reteams Mitchell with her former producer J.J. Abrams. Abrams and Iron Man’s Jon Favreau the series, which was created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural).
Mitchell was a late addition to the cast. She takes over the role of Rachel Matheson, a part that Rescue Me actress Andrea Roth played in the pilot. While the majority of the action in Revolution takes place in a future where electricity has failed, Rachel will appear exclusively in a series of flashbacks to what the world was like before.
These photos show a concerned Rachel talking to a young version of Charlie (played in the future by Tracy Spiridakos)…
…and a scene of seeming domestic bliss. Everyone knows that won’t last long after everything goes dark.
15 years after the lights go out, the world has reverted to feudal state where warlords rule and terrorize people living off the land, trying to exist in peace. When one of the militias kidnap her brother Danny (Graham Rodgers), Charlie sets off on a journey to find her estranged uncle Miles (Billy Burke), a reclusive ex-Marine. Together they wander the countryside, hoping to rescue Danny, and solve the mystery of why the power went off.
Revolution premieres Monday, September 17th, and NBC will show a short preview during tonight’s (Monday, August 6th) coverage of the Olympic Games in London.
