edge of tomorrowWe know how much our readers love Tom Cruise and the upcoming YA adaptation Divergent, but instead of going ahead with our first choice and changing the name of the website to reflect that, we thought we would just show all interested parties some new stills that Warner Bros. and Summit shared. Above, you can see a still from Edge of Tomorrow, at the moment in the movie where Cruise and Emily Blunt look at each other right before saying, “Lookit these crazy robot suits and such!”

Well, the scene will probably have a little more context than that, and will no doubt involve Blunt’s super-soldier Rita Vrataski telling Cruise’s Lt. Col. Bill Cage that she can teach him how to be a better soldier. Edge of Tomorrow centers on Cage, who gets trapped in some kind of a strange time loop while in the middle of a battle against an army of aliens, in a future where really badass exoskeletons assist the human army. Though he doesn’t know what is happening or why he’s going through it, he finds Vrataski, who is similarly trapped, and together they train and try to figure out a way to stop the enemy and rid themselves of their extraterrestrial-filled Groundhog Day.

Directed by the talented Doug Liman, this flick should definitely put Oblivion far back in audiences’ minds as far as Cruise’s value in sci-fi goes. Check out the trailerexplosive trailer below.

And then there’s Divergent, Neil Burger’s feature adaptation of Veronica Roth’s bestselling novel, the first in a trilogy. The film will follow Tris Porter (Shailene Woodley), a young girl who finds herself the exception to the rule in a dystopian society where Chicago is separated into five different factions based on people’s personalities. Because she is “divergent,” she is excluded from all groups, thus making her privy to a secret plot to destroy the perfect society they all live in.

The film co-stars Theo James as the hunky love interest and instructor Four, Kate Winslet, Naomi Judd, Miles Teller, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Zoë Kravitz, Mekhi Phifer, and Ben Lamb. Below you can find two new stills from the film, neither of which are really worth a second look. James and Woodley together all lovey-dovey does not make me excited about this movie.
