Dredd Is Judge, Jury, And Executioner In Another TV Spot

By Brent McKnight | 8 years ago

The hype for director Pete Travis’ adaptation of 2000AD’s ultraviolent comic Judge Dredd, simply titled Dredd, is kicking into high gear. Yet another TV spot for the hard-R sci-fi adventure has found its way online.

This video follows on the coattails of the viral website and faux PSA, and is similar in content to the “Legendary” one we wrote about yesterday. Twice as long as that previous spot, this one definitely shows a wider range of the action you can expect from Dredd. You also get more of a look at the effects of the new designer drug, slo-mo. Love that shot of Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) splashing water in the tub. I just hope they don’t over use that particular effect or it’ll get old quick.

Mega-City One is a mass of post-atomic urban blight, home to 800 million citizens, and encompasses the East Coast from Boston to Washington D.C.. A violent metropolis, full of unrest, the streets are patrolled by a police force called Judges, who, as you probably guessed from this clip, serve as judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one.

When notorious Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and his psychic rookie partner, Judge Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), chase a suspect into the Peach Tree high-rise they find themselves trapped in Ma-Ma’s den. The 200-story slum is where she controls all of the production and distribution of slo-mo in the city. You should be able to tell from the trailer that things get out of hand rather quickly, and the Judges must fight for their lives against insane odds.

Dredd opens in 3D on September 21st.
