The Doctor’s New Companion Is Already A Meme: The Hipster Companion

She's been there and done that before you.

It’s only been a little over a week since we first were introduced to Doctor Who‘s next companion, to be played by 25-year-old British actress Jenna-Louise Coleman. She’s appeared in a couple of TV shows over in the U.K., but the first chance most of us might have seen her was in a small role in last summer’s Captain America: The First Avenger. While she’s something of a blank slate until we see her in action, I think we can all agree on one thing: she’s bloody gorgeous.

We don’t know much about the character she’ll play alongside Matt Smith’s Doctor, and her debut is still a long way off. But in the week and a half since her unveiling, Jenna-Louise has already made one impressive accomplishment: she’s become a meme. Thanks to one slightly doctored publicity shot of the actress standing in front of the TARDIS, and a new Tumblr blog, the Hipster Companion was born.

Yes, no matter what the subject matter, she’s been there and done that before you…thanks to time travel. The idea is the brainchild of Jill Pantozzi and Chris George, and while at this point there aren’t many variations on the theme, I imagine that will change soon. If there’s anything the internet loves, it’s a meme involving a cute girl (or cats, but I don’t see how that’s relevant here).
