Doctor Who’s Companions Get Their Own Webseries

We might be losing them in the upcoming seventh season, but that doesn’t mean Doctor Who’s (Matt Smith) latest companions, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill), don’t have stories to tell. The Ponds will be the focus of a short BBC webseries called Pond Life. Five episodes of the series will precede the new season of Doctor Who, which begins September 1st.

Doctor Who’s companions get their own web spin off.

Pond Life will gives fans a look at what the pair have been up to in the interim between the last series and next. From the series seven clips we’ve seen of the Amy, Rory, and the Doctor surrounded by an arena of Daleks, things are about to get all sort intense for the trio.

You’ll also get a glimpse at what Amy and Rory’s lives were like before they started travelling through time with the Doctor, and in the times between adventures. Writer Chris Chibnall says, “It opens with them at home and gives us an insight into just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives.”

Chibnall goes on to talk about the influence and presence of the Doctor as less than a stabilizing force. He say, “Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.” Can’t imagine any reason why that might be the case.

Pond Life will premiere over five days beginning Monday, August 27th. Episodes will be shown on the official Doctor Who website and the BBC1 YouTube channel.
