Since then, there have been numerous reports surrounding Disney’s larger plans for the Star Wars franchise, and now the word has come down from Disney CEO Bob Iger: we’ll be seeing standalone Star Wars movies in addition to the new trilogy, and they’re already in the works.

Iger appeared on the cable network CNBC to discuss the financial aspects of running the Disney Corporation, and the newly acquired Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries. Iger also says that they want to maintain the integrity of the Star Wars brand for all of its fans, which is why they have been bringing on the very best in the industry to oversee the new Star Wars movies.
