And we go from a classic-by-default to one of the greatest science fiction films ever to exist, and guess who directed it? Robert Wise. A humanoid alien heads down to Earth with his spooky robot in order to deliver a highly important message to humanity. That message: Don’t ever, ever watch the dreadful remake starring Keanu Reeves. While this 1951 classic is somewhat stilted by today’s standards, it stands a metal head and shoulders above a majority of the films that came after it, and is required viewing.
