If you can barely contain your enthusiasm for season two of Continuum, you’re in luck, because you don’t have to wait much longer for the new season to begin. Season two premieres on April 21st…in Canada, anyway. American audiences will have to wait until June 7th. At any rate, you can check out the latest promo for the sophomore effort above.

On the surface, this seems like a ridiculously quick turnaround, but keep in mind that though season one just finished airing on Syfy here in the U.S., the show’s initial 10-episode run wrapped all the way back in August 2012 in Canada. Either way, it isn’t too terribly long to set eyes on new episodes.

This video teases a ton of action from the second season, themes of destiny, as well as the duality inherent in the series. Past versus present, old versus young, cop versus terrorist, there’s always two sides to every element, or at least a counterbalance.

Continuum follows Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), a City Protective Services officer in the year 2077. The world has become a dystopia ruled by corporations, and when Kiera attempts to foil the escape of a violent group of terrorists, she is sucked back in time with them to the year 2012. Ever the civic-minded public servant, she impersonates a cop and keeps right on foiling these self-proclaimed freedom fighters.

Season two continues her uneasy alliance with Carlos Fonnegra, the detective played by Victor Webster, and finds her trying to figure out why the hell she was sent back in time, and how she can get back home to her family.
