SLFeatMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is still one of our most anticipated flicks of the summer, but if the wait until its August 1 release date seems unbearable, two of the Guardians are getting new ongoing comic series beginning next month. First up, writer Sam Humphries (The Ultimates, X-Force) and artist Paco Media (Deadpool) will be getting Peter “Star-Lord” Quill into cosmic trouble on a monthly basis in The Legendary Star-Lord, which launches July 2. They’re calling it a “Space Western,” so I’m guessing this might be right up your alley if you’re a fan of Firefly or Farscape.

Here’s how Humphries describes the series:

‘This book is going to be Peter’s adventures untethered from the Guardians, where he gets to play a little more fast and loose in the cosmic playground,’ Humphries said. ‘He likes to fight. He likes to flirt. He flies by the seat of his pants. This book is almost more like a Space Western. It’s about heists and cons, bounty hunters, revenge and all that good stuff … These are the high flying adventures of a space cowboy.’
