Leia1Marvel is set to relaunch the Star Wars comics universe with a bang in 2015. The first issue of the new ongoing Star Wars series is set to release on January 14, 2015…and it’s already sold over one million copies, making it the best-selling single issue of a comic in 20 years. But that’s just the beginning. In March 2015 Marvel will be launching a mini-series focused on Princess Leia. Now ComicBookMovie.com has shared a first look at the first issue of Princess Leia #1, written by Mark Waid and with art by Terry Dodson. It’s only a couple of dialog-free pages, but it takes a new look at one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.

It’s obviously hard to tell much just from a few images, but they are intriguing. What’s up with the weird looks between Leia and the Republic soldiers, for instance? Here’s the official synopsis for the Princess Leia series:

When Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy, she never betrayed her convictions, even in the face of the complete destruction of her home world, Alderaan. When her rescue came, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight, escaping back to the Rebel Alliance and helping strike the biggest blow against the Empire — the destruction of the Death Star. But in the aftermath of that victory, the question remains…what is a princess without a world?
