Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar Adds Michael Caine

Whether it be Christian Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy and The Prestige, Tom Hardy in Inception and The Dark Knight Returns, or character actor Mark Boone Junior in Memento and Batman Begins, director Christopher Nolan clearly likes to work with the same actors from movie to movie. Now it looks like another Nolan regular will be joining the cast of his next film, Interstellar.
As reported on Deadline, actor Michael Caine will be added to Nolan’s Interstellar. Caine will join Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and the recently cast Jessica Chastain in the upcoming science fiction film. Interstellar will be Michael Caine’s sixth Nolan movie, after Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, and The Dark Knight Rises.
Michael Caine will next appear in the magician-heist film Now You See Me for director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), which will be released on May 31st. Caine gained commercial success as the title role of Alfie Elkins in the original Alfie in 1966. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Cider House Rules in 1999. Today, he’s perhaps best known for playing Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
There is still not much known about Interstellar. It’s based on the writings of theoretical physicist/astrophysicist Kip Thorne, who mostly deals with black hole cosmology, gravitational waves, and theoretical time travel. The science fiction film is described as “a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.”
Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar will hit theaters everywhere on November 7, 2014, in glorious IMAX.
