Check Out The First Terminator: Genisys Footage Here

The first Terminator: Genisys trailer doesn’t drop in full until tomorrow, but you didn’t really think a big trailer like that show up without any advanced hype, did you? That’s not the world we live in. We get trailers for trailers now (in the case of Jurassic World we got a couple). Earlier today we wrote about a new motion poster for the upcoming fifth Terminator movie, and now we’ve got a teaser for tomorrow, which shows off some new footage. It’s only a tease, but it’s still awesome. Check it out for yourself below.

I know this strategy is totally lame, and this teaser doesn’t actually reveal anything (of the 15-second run time, like six of those are the logo at the end), but I’m not going to lie, I got giddy and excited watching this. Multiple times.

Terminator GenisysIt starts off with Lee Byung-hun—one of South Korea’s greatest living actors (A Bittersweet Life and I Saw the Devil rank among personal favorites, despite not being sci-fi in any way), who is probably most known stateside for his appearances in G.I. Joe movies—as the new T-1000, which is cool as hell and terrifying.

Terminator GenisysThen there’s this big set pieces that, if we had to hazard a guess, shows off some kind of time travel apparatus. We’ve heard that the plot involves more jumping around from era to era than its predecessors, and this may very well be how they manage to pull that off.

Terminator GenisysIf you’ve ever wondered what the near total annihilation of the human race will look like from space, this appears to be the view just after Skynet gets all kill crazy and starts winging missiles all over the planet. That doesn’t look like a good time. In the movie, yes, but in reality, not so much.

Terminator GenisysAnd then there’s the money shot, returning franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger with the skin peeled off of one arm, showing off his robotic innards. After this many movies, you have to wonder what the excuse is this time, but we don’t really care about the logistics at this point.

Similar to the other movies, Genisys sees John Connor send Kyle Reese back in time to stop Skynet from killing his mother, Sarah Connor, thus negating his very existence. This time around, however, they go back even further than before and discover a Sarah that has been raised a surprising familiar face.

Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), Terminator: Genisys also stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, and J.K. Simmons, and opens everywhere on July 1, 2015.
