WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE MID-SEASON FINALE! It looks like this clip is from the very end of this Sunday’s episode.

With only a few days until the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, the two groups of survivalists are quickly turning the zombie TV series into a showdown. But with the promise of another fan-favorite from the comic book to pop up on the TV series, it really goes to show how The Walking Dead is expanding its narrative. Take a look at Chad Coleman as ex-NFL linebacker Tyreese in this Sunday’s episode, “Made to Suffer.”

It looks like Tyreese may be the leader of another group of survivalists looking for a place to stay safe from zombies. Tyreese and Rick are on the same wavelength — just like in the comic book — because they both seek solace in the same prison. The second half of this season should see another standoff for the prison, between Tyreese’s and Rick’s separate groups.

The theme of season three is that zombies aren’t the only threat in this post-apocalyptic world. Time and time again we see that people will be the downfall of these smaller civilizations and societies. At the beginning of the season, we had the prisoners, then the Governor at Woodbury, and now Tyreese and his group. Will the conflict escalate between Tyreese and Rick like it did with Tomas and the Governor, or will Tyreese and Rick become friends and work together like in the comic book?

A few weeks ago, it was rumored that a fan-favorite from the comic book would join the cast of The Walking Dead for the remainder of the third season. Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman even teased the appearance of a new character on the TV series. Sightings of actor Chad Coleman (The Wire) in the Atlanta area led many to believe that the character of Tyreese would be the newest addition.

The Walking Dead‘s mid-season finale will air this Sunday, December 2nd, on AMC.
