Gamora

We’ve heard casting rumors for practically every member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. The only member of the intergalactic police squad we haven’t heard about is the Zen Whoberi known as Gamora. Apparently, Marvel is looking at actors Gina Carano (Haywire), Olivia Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens), and Adrianne Palicki (G.I. Joe Retaliation) to possibly play the role.

The news comes from ComicBookMovie.com, which says that Marvel is looking to start the film’s production this summer to get ready for the August 2014 release. As of this post, however, no one has been officially cast in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gamora is the last of her species, the Zen Whoberi. She is also the adopted daughter of the supervillain Thanos, who found her as a child and wanted to use her as the ultimate weapon. She was raised to be a lethal and cunning martial artist. Gamora has enhanced speed, strength, agility, and a rapid healing ability, and is known as “the deadliest woman in the whole galaxy.”

Marvel has been auditioning a wide array of actors for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Actors Jim Sturgess, Zachary Levi, Wes Bentley, and John Krasinski are being considered for the role of Star-Lord, while Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade, and former WWE superstar Dave Bautista are being considered for Drax The Destroyer. The studio is also rumored to be in talks with Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey to play either Rocket Raccoon or the treelike alien Groot. The film will also be written and directed by James Gunn.

Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
