Bruce Willis Bursts Out Of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Chest In New Looper Poster
So far writer/director Rian Johnson’s time travel-themed action film Looper has come up with some tremendous marketing material. Their viral campaign has been fun, the trailers kick a lot of ass, and their posters have all been pretty. Another new one-sheet has been revealed, and this one has star Bruce Willis doing his best Alien impression, bursting out of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s chest.
Most of the Looper posters have dealt with the theme of duality in one form or another, and this latest effort follows along the same lines. Many of the images have Willis and Gordon-Levitt physically connected in some manner, but this one looks as if Willis has blasted his way out of Gordon-Levitt’s body, emerging from inside, leaving only ash behind.
In the future of Looper, time travel has been invented, but is highly illegal. Large criminal organizations, however, use the technology when they need someone to disappear. They send the target back in time where a specialized assassin, called a Looper, is waiting to kill them and dispose of the body, leaving the future mob free to go about their business without fear of any unwanted corpses popping up.
Joe (Gordon-Levitt) is one of this new breed of hitman. Much like everyone else, he does his thing, killing people from the future, making money, enjoying his life, until one day his bosses decide to “close the loop.” They send Joe’s future self (Willis) back in time to be eliminated. You can imagine this causes some hesitation and a momentary existential crisis, but when Future Joe escapes, Past Joe is in a world of hurt.
Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels, Piper Parabo, and Paul Dano also star.
Looper will play both the Toronto International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest before opening wide in theaters September 28th.
