About a month ago, director David Fincher expressed his interest in casting one of his long-time collaborators, Brad Pitt, in his newest film project, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It sounds like the 48-year-old Pitt is just as eager to work with Fincher again. In an interview with MTV while promoting his latest film, Killing Them Softly, Brad Pit disclosed his willingness and enthusiasm for being in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea if David Fincher wants him in the lead role. “I’d love to. I mean, he’s my man. He’s got a great take on it. That’s just gonna be about schedule and time allocation, but he’s my man,” Pitt told MTV’s Josh Horowitz.

And why wouldn’t Brad Pitt want to work with David Fincher again? Some of Pitt’s best work came from Fincher’s films, including Se7en, Fight Club, and Pitt’s Academy Award-nominated performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The pair has a great dynamic together, so if they do work together on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, they’ll probably knock it out of the park! That said, how dark will the Disney film actually go? Ultimately, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a family-friendly film at heart, so hiring David Fincher to direct seems kind of strange.

Another long-time Fincher collaborator, screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the script for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. He also wrote the screenplays for Fincher’s Se7en and Panic Room.

If Brad Pitt is cast, he would reportedly play the role of sailor and master harpooner Ned Land in the adaptation of the Jules Verne sci-fi classic. Kirk Douglas originally played the Ned Land role in the 1954 version, with actor James Mason as Captain Nemo.
