Today is the day you’ve all been waiting for! Angry Birds Star Wars is now available for your mobile devices and personal computers. To celebrate the release of the addictive mobile game, Finnish publisher Rovio has released a string of promotional trailers for the game and the upcoming animated short film, as well as first-look videos teasing the Angry Birds gameplay.

Just think, before the Disney/Lucasfilm acquisition, Angry Birds Star Wars was the biggest news for Star Wars fans. What a difference a week makes! The animated short film is the first time we’ve seen the Angry Birds (non-pixel) animated, and it also teases the potential for a full-length animated movie. The animation in the cinematic trailer feels like a Saturday-morning cartoon more than anything else, which probably won’t appeal to older fans of the Star Wars saga.

The mobile game itself features all your favorite Star Wars characters as Angry Birds, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The gameplay actually looks compelling. It looks like Rovio has done a good job incorporating lightsabers, the Force, settings and planets, and other elements from Star Wars into their Angry Birds mobile game.

Rovio has really lucked out with the timing of Angry Birds Star Wars, which was most likely engineered by the ad wizards at Disney and LucasArts. If Angry Birds Star Wars is like any other Angry Birds mobile game, then it will be a big hit like its predecessors. Rovio and LucasArts continue to get their fans involved with the game itself. They have released a tumblr. blog where fans can submit their own artwork from Angry Birds Star Wars.

Angry Birds Star Wars is available now for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, and Windows Phone and Windows 8. Here are some more images from the game.
