Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC, 8/7c)
It’s already been confirmed that Marvel’s latest excursion into the TV landscape will be returning for a second season, so hopefully it will finally get past the growing pains it suffered in the first half of its freshman season. The show has seemed to suffer from trying to figure out what sort of show it wants to be, a problem that it only made worse by suffering from fan expectations comparing the show to Marvel’s big-screen superhero offerings. If you’d bailed on the show, the January premiere might be worth checking out. It’s called “The Magical Place” and looks to finally be revealing what happened to Agent Coulson between his “death” in Avengers and mysterious return in this series.

Intelligence (CBS, 9/8c)
It’s Chuck, but with Sawyer from Lost. Okay, that’s unfair, it’s not like Chuck was the first show to run with the whole “chip in the head connects a dude to vast networks of information” concept. Plus, Josh Holloway is a charming motherfucker, so that’ll earn them my eyeballs for Intelligence‘s pilot at least. Series creator Michael Seitzman doesn’t have much on his IMDb page, so he’s pretty much a cypher when it comes to setting our expectation level.
