Starcraft is by now one of the most popular science fiction games of all time. Odds are you’ve spent at least a few hours in front of your computer playing it, or maybe a few thousand hours (if you’re like me). But since it’s a top down real time strategy game, odds are even if you have spent a good chunk of your life sending the Swarm into battle, you probably don’t really have a clear idea of just what all the units you’re controlling look like up close, or for that matter standing next to each other. You can only do so much when you’re trying to squeeze that many units into a small square of pixels.
One Starcraft fanatic has decided to take matters into his own hands, and has begun creating a side by side scale comparison of all of the game’s different units. To come up with accurate measurements for each he’s been researching Starcraft in all its different incarnations and so far seems to have a pretty accurate representation going. Here’s what he’s come up with so far…
This is a work in progress. More updates will be made as he adds more units. Personally I’m particularly interested in seeing how bigger units like Protoss carriers and Terran Battlecruisers fit into the picture. Big surprise for me so far is how small Siege Tanks actually are.
