Godzilla’s Latest Trailer Wrecks The Joint While Bryan Cranston Demands Answers

“You have no idea what’s coming.” Bryan Cranston lays out that portentous line in the latest Godzilla trailer, which just hit the web. But with every new glimpse of Godzilla footage we become more and more convinced that, whatever is coming, it’s going to be awesome.

Legendary Pictures and director Gareth Edwards (Monsters) have been very canny in how much they reveal with each new trailer for the big guy’s return to the big screen. We’ve seen widespread destruction. We finally got our first really good look at the titanic monster in the previous trailer, and this latest video seems to confirm one long-standing rumor, as well as providing a few hints as the backstory leading up to the film.

Doctor Who? What If The Time Lord Was Played By American Actors Instead?

DocAmericaSpeculating about which actors could admirably fill the Doctor’s sand shoes is a regular part of being a Doctor Who fan. Allowing the time lord to evolve into different versions of himself, and to be played by different actors, is one of the ways the show has survived and thrived for 50 years. But what if the show wasn’t a quintessentially British phenomenon, but had been born in the gold ol’ US of A? And I don’t mean the movie version David Yates kept insisting he was making, I mean if the show had actually been invented here in the States. Who might have played the Doctor over the years? How about Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, for one?

Tumblr user Smug Mode decided to turn this hypothetical situation into a series of pictures depicting the Twelve Doctors: The American Version. Obviously this is the sort of thing that will get fans twisted all out of shape, possibly to the point that fistfights break out. And we’ll be in there swinging right along with you, because while some of the picks are brilliant — we would totally be on board for Cranston’s portrayal of the time lord — some of them are…less brilliant. Let’s run through the Docs in order, along with my thoughts about each of Smug Mode’s picks. (He’s American now, so people would probably call him Doc, right?)

This App Lets You Try On A New Face

Walter White FaceSubstitute

Walter White FaceSubstitute

What are you up to on this fine Sunday? Not much? Perfect! We’ve got just the thing for you. It’s a little weird, but you’re down for that, right? FaceSubstitute is a new program that allows you to try on someone else’s face. Want to make fun of the Bieber after the week he’s had? Put his face on, grab some eggs (and probably some booze too) and have a good chuckle at his expense. Or maybe you think you’ve got a regal profile and you want to try on the queen’s visage. Or maybe you were always more of a Clooney kind of guy.

Godzilla Is The One Who Stomps In This Breaking Bad Mashup

These are tough times for the Breaking Bad fan. Even though it’s been three months since the show wrapped up its run, the TV landscape still has yet to serve up a worth successor to what was easily one of the best shows in history. Since the life and times of Walter White have come to an end, we’re left with a few choices. We can rewatch the show obsessively. We can scour Netflix for something to help dull the pain. Or we can pretend Bryan Cranston’s other projects are actually Breaking Bad tie-ins. Which brings us to the above mashup video where Walter White abandons cooking meth in favor of creating a monster the size of a skyscraper.

Mass Effect Writer On The Trilogy’s Ending And A Shepard-Free ME4

ME3It’s now been a year and a half since BioWare wrapped up their Mass Effect trilogy in epic — if controversial — fashion. Most of the game was action-packed, emotionally gripping, and well constructed, but the actual ending of the game led to a lot of vocal outrage from players who felt it removed the element of choice that was so inherent to the series, instead reducing the possible endings to three variations on a theme. BioWare eventually released a “director’s cut” of the ending that provided more closure for the events and characters of the trilogy, but there’s no question that BioWare has a lot to consider as it works on the early stages of a fourth Mass Effect game. One thing is certain: don’t expect any more of Commander Shepard.

In a new interview with Complex, Mass Effect writer Mac Walters shared his thoughts on the future of the franchise, the expansive universe beyond the games, and the lessons learned from Mass Effect 3. First off, no, he didn’t drop any major hints as to what to expect from Mass Effect 4. That’s not surprising, since BioWare has Dragon Age: Inquisition in the barrel first, so it’ll likely be another year or so before we hear anything tangible on the ME4 front. Walters tells Complex:
