Star Wars Will Be Taking Over This TV Show Tonight

fb share tweet share

sports nationIf anybody ever told you the worlds of science fiction and sports were mutually exclusive, that person must have had trouble talking with his or her head so far up his or her upside-down sarlacc pit. To celebrate…something…ESPN2’s fan-friendly series SportsNation will be dedicating an episode entirely to the Star Wars universe. Ready for some football, you are.

The costume-filled episode is actually pre-Halloween and will be airing tonight, Thursday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. ET, just before the Major League Soccer playoffs. (Soccer is so Star Wars.) The half-hour episode won’t just feature a few new graphics and a bunch of cheap lightsaber toys. They’re going the whole nine parsecs with this one.

For one, the entire SportsNation set is being redesigned to look like the inside of the Millennium Falcon, which is awesome. According to THR, the majority of the most beloved Star Wars characters will make an appearance, including Han Solo, Yoda, Boba Fett, R2-D2, and C-3PO. Host Max Kellerman will be dressing up as Boba Fett, while Marcesslus Wiley will presumably be donning a pair of wrinkly ears for his Yoda costume.

Star Wars Humble Bundle Will Net You Tons Of Comics Awesomeness

fb share tweet share

SWHumbleWe’re excited to see what the future has to hold in Marvel’s new Star Wars comics that are launching early next year, which will spin new stories of Han, Luke, and Leia (not to mention Darth Vader himself). But if the wait until January just seems unbearably long and you need a Star Wars comics fix stat, why not dive into the past? Specifically into Dark Horse’s extensive back catalog of Star Wars titles. Now you’ve got a perfect way to do so, as this month’s Humble Bundle includes nearly $200 worth of Star Wars awesomeness…and you can decide how much you want to pay for the lot of it.

If you’re not familiar with the whole Humble Bundle concept, here’s how it works. This month’s Humble Bundle includes 89 comics from a dozen different Star Wars series, each giving you the first few issues so you can get a feel for which series you might want to read further. All the titles are available in a variety of formats, and all are DRM free. As I said above, you get to decide how much you want to pay for the Bundle. So you could technically pay $0.01, but only if you’re a dick, because this thing benefits charity. Specifically the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, which fights censorship and defends the first amendment rights of comic creators. You can even decide how you’d like your donation to be divided between the Dark Horse creators and the CBLDF.

James Earl Jones To Voice Darth Vader Once Again, Cue The Imperial March

fb share tweet share

VaderYou knew he couldn’t stay away forever. With the massive expansion of the Star Wars universe currently under way now that Star Wars Rebels has premiered and Star Wars: Episode VII is deep into production, we’re going to visit that familiar far, far away galaxy quite a bit in the near future, and there will be some familiar faces along for the ride. The most notable of these are, of course, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, but the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and many others, will show up from time to time in various places, and we’ve got one more huge name to add to this list. James Earl Jones is going to voice Darth Vader once again.

Maybe the greatest movie villain of all time will appear in the animated Rebels, but this is definitely a weird situation for Vader to make his triumphant return, as he’s not slated to materialize in a future episode or anything like that. According to Variety, the Jones-voiced Vader will show up in a scene that will be added to a rebroadcast of the Rebels premiere, “Spark of Rebellion,” later this month.

fb share tweet share

While the world of live-action Star Wars adventures is currently being bogged down with spoilers, rumors, and rampant speculation, let’s not forget that there are six other Star Wars movies that aren’t done inspiring their own rumors just yet. Ever since Disney first bought up Lucasfilm, there have been murmurings about the possibility of the company re-releasing Episodes I-VI in some format, though legal issues with rights holder Twentieth Century Fox have stood in the way. Until now, possibly. Check out the video below, and sorry that it’s in Italian.

fb share tweet share

kenobi-guiness-starwarsEntering into a period of Star Wars renaissance as we are, we’re preparing for deluge of new movies that can only be compared to the Marvel tidal wave we’ve encountered recently. There’s been a ton of talk about what actors and characters are returning for the new Episode movies—and what their roles will be—as well as what characters will get their own standalone movies (Boba Fett, Han Solo). With all of that, a new report says that one important character may not just get a solo movie, but he could get his very own trilogy.

Cinelinx shared this rumor, and according to their sources, whatever those may be, we could be seeing a lot more of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the relatively near future. They say:

Star Wars: Episode VII Revisits A Classic Scene And Possible First Footage

fb share tweet share

Star WarsThere’s been a lot of talk surrounding Star Wars: Episode VII about how the new film, and everything the new Disney-owned Lucasfilm produces from now on, will connect and fit into the larger Star Wars universe. From what has been said, there’s also a large emphasis being placed on capturing the feel of the original trilogy in the new works, something the prequels failed to do in any way. If the latest Episode VII reports we’re hearing are true, they’re definitely going for that, maybe by even recreating one legendary scenes, or at least something very similar. There’s also a little bit of clarification of the plot, as well as what could be the first look at footage from the actual film.

Here’s where we warn you that there are SPOILERS lurking beyond here. It feels like we’ve entered an era where the boogey man has hiding under your bed has been replaced by spoilers hiding on the Internet, but maybe that just means we’re nerds and we’re growing up.
